When I found out I made Wheel of Fortune, I was completely stunned! I had always dreamed of being on the show, but to see the words, “Congratulations! You have been selected to join us” via email, felt surreal. I screamed and immediately called my husband. It was pure joy—like winning a mini-lottery just by being chosen.
To prepare, I watched episodes religiously, practicing along with the puzzles and studying letter patterns. I even downloaded a few apps to sharpen my skills. My kids thought it was hilarious when I’d shout letters at the TV, but I like to think I was setting a great example for quick thinking under pressure!
One thing I learned through this experience is how important it is to stay calm under pressure. The lights, the wheel, the audience—it’s ALOT to take in, and keeping your focus is key. I also learned how much teamwork goes into making the show happen. The crew is incredible, and Ryan and Vanna are just as kind and fun as you imagine. Everyone was so helpful in trying to calm all of our nerves and make us feel as comfortable as possible!
There were definitely surprises along the way! A few puzzles stumped me, even when I thought I had a solid strategy. What seemed SO obvious in hindsight was just totally different when you are in person. Even with all my practice ahead of time, there’s NOTHING that compares to the adrenaline rush of the real deal.
The only weird takeaway is that now every time I grab a Kraft single out the fridge, in the back of my head I say “Proud to be an American Cheese”.
Some things ya just can’t forget
For the airing, I wanted to make it special for my friends and family. We’re hosting a watch party so everyone can cheer (or laugh!) at my performance together. I’m so grateful for their support—this journey wouldn’t have been the same without them.
Wheel of Fortune has always been more than just a game show to me. It’s a symbol of family, fun, and dreaming big. Growing up, it was something my family gathered around to watch, and now I get to be a part of that legacy. It’s a moment I’ll treasure forever, no matter how the game turned out!
