Our "Way to Wheel" began when Kerry's mom told us that Wheel of Fortune was going to be taping "Best Friends Week" in New York. She encouraged us to audition, and on Thanksgiving, with both of our families contributing to the project, we taped our Wheel of Fortune audition rap video! We had so much fun creating the rap here are a few lines: "We've been best friends since our college days, We want to spin the wheel so we can get paid!" "I'm the lawyer, and I like to teach, we want to win a prize like a trip to the beach!" After submitting our video the day after Thanksgiving, we received an email the following week letting us know that we had been selected to attend the Wheel of Fortune contestant audition in December!
When we arrived for the audition in Brooklyn, we were a little nervous, and very excited. It was fun to see all of the best friend pairings. The WOF contestant coordinators guided all of the attendees through playing a few practice rounds and then we each had to take a WOF quiz with sample puzzles - It was tough! After the initial cuts, about half of the group was left and then we had to play practice games against each other. It was then that we had the opportunity to introduce ourselves to the WOF contestant coordinators. This was our opportunity to show our personalities and set ourselves apart from the other pairs, so WE DID OUR RAP Live!
After we performed, everyone cheered It was so much fun! Then, after all the pairs had the opportunity to do their intros and play a few practice games, the WOF staff thanked us and told us that we would all hear if we'd been selected in the beginning of February. The month of February was coming to an end and we still hadn't heard then on February 27th, we got the call that we had been selected, and we would be taping our episode in March!! Check out our episode on Tuesday, August 20th to see what happened!

We arrived at Madison Square Garden at 8:30am on our Wheel of Fortune taping day. Prior to that day, we had been studying WOF episodes and read the contestant packet thoroughly, so we felt like we were ready! At MSG, It was good to see some of the best friends pairs that we had met during our auditions. We were all dressed in our bright, TV ready colors, and ready to play! We were escorted to the green room where we were provided with breakfast while the Wheel of Fortune contestant coordinators walked us through the logistics of the day, including reviewing the contestant agreement, reminding us how to enunciate when calling letters and letting us know what teams would be on which shows together. We found out we were going to play in the second game of the day and really started to get excited!!! We each got our makeup done by the fantastic WOF make-up artists. Then it was time to go down to the set to see the Wheel!
The set was beautifully done in a New York City theme. All of the contestants had the opportunity to spin the wheel - it is much smaller than it looks on TV but it is HEAVY! We also had to practice calling letters on the set (if you think you're speaking loud, you're not) - you have to practically scream the letters out - clearly! During the practice time on set, it became intense because everything was a bit rushed and we were trying to remember all of the tips, but it was much better once we started playing the game.
During the game, we won the first toss up and we were so excited! It was intense trying to figure out the puzzles on the spot - nothing like how easy it is from our couches! We won another puzzle and a prize puzzle too! It was great - we won a trip for four to Hawaii and prize money. We got to go to the bonus round, and although we didn't win the final prize, we enjoyed every minute of the experience. Pat, Vanna and the Wheel of Fortune contestant coordinators and crew were all GREAT. This is an experience that we will cherish always!! We are "Wheel Watchers" for life!
