Wheel has always been a favorite show of mine! I grew up watching Wheel with my grandparents, my parents, and now even watch it every night with my husband. It has always been such a fun game for me, and I always thought I was pretty good at it! One night, I was watching an episode and something popped up on the screen about going online to submit an application. So, I thought, “WHY NOT?!” My husband thought I was crazy, but that is nothing new ;) I originally sent in an application video of my husband and myself hoping that we could both get on the show – maybe for a couple’s edition or something. Once I sent it in, I received an exciting email a few months later. The auditions were coming to New Orleans, Louisiana! This is about an hour drive for me, so I knew I could NOT pass this up. I was asked to come audition for the show (alone or with a spouse), but since it was during the week, my husband was not able to make it there with me due to his work schedule. He encouraged me to still go, so I went and auditioned alone, and thank goodness I did! It was SO exciting and such a fun process. I was just happy to be there, regardless of whether I’d make it on to the show or not. After the audition, I received a letter in the mail that I was accepted as a contestant. Shortly after that, I got the email with my tape date. The feeling was indescribable that I was actually about to be on Wheel, and I don’t regret anything!
Vanna was the sweetest, cutest thing! She came and surprised us on the morning of our tape date, and we were all shocked to see her standing in the same room as us. It was really setting in that this was real, and I was about to be playing WHEEL OF FORTUNE for real cash and prizes! The nerves kicked in, but the staff at WoF are so great to keep you pumped up and excited rather than nervous or scared. Pat was great and such a fun time during the show. He always has funny remarks about everything, but I was so shocked that I was even talking to him that I didn’t even remember what was said until I watched my show!
I always dreamed of solving the prize puzzle. Those are just so exciting and fun to win. I started out this round and immediately got a bankrupt, so I thought my chances were gone! However, it came back around to me, and I was able to finish the puzzle, solve it, and win a trip to St. Lucia! The adrenaline is REAL when you are playing the game. After I won the prize round, I sort of zoned out because I was full of excitement, nerves, and a RUSH knowing that the game was coming to an end! It was the fastest 22 minutes of my life, and luckily was able to solve the final round and head to Bonus Land!
It is SO much easier said than done for the Bonus Round. I solve them all the time sitting at home on my couch. However, I totally panicked! All of my consonants were in the puzzle, but the words were just not coming to me. It was the fastest few seconds of my life, and the nerves are real!!! I was disappointed that I did not solve it, but I will happily take my “Bumpy Flight” all the way to St. Lucia! ;) Even though I did not get the Bonus, I won over $18,000 in cash and prizes, and being on the show was one of the coolest days of my life! I really encourage anyone who is thinking about auditioning to GO FOR IT. The experience alone was 100% worth it! Best of luck!!
