I've been watching Wheel of Fortune all of my life. My family and I watch it everyday as part of our family time. In 2012, I applied online without telling anyone. I knew it was going to take a long time for a response because I'm under the age of 18. A couple years later, I got an email from Sony Pictures. I thought it was a scam at first because I applied for it a long time ago. It was for an audition for "Teen Best Friends Week" in Culver City. I immediately accepted it, but it was hard to contact one of my best friends.
Finally, we went to the audition and a lot of other teens were there. Everybody was really excited and the room was filled with energy. We met the Producer, Executive Producer, and everybody that was in charge of helping us make the show itself exciting to watch. They told us to project our voices and just have fun. At the end of the audition, they said if we didn't receive a call to be on the show in a couple of weeks, then we didn't make it. Ti'Ler (my best friend) and I waited and waited, and we didn’t receive the call. It was okay though, because we appreciated the experience at the audition. A couple months later, my grandpa received a call from the Producer with exciting news saying we were going to be on the show. He later sent an email with detailed information about the show. Ti'Ler and I were jumping for joy. A packet came in the mail with tips on how to win the game. I used strategies in the game so reading more about it helped a lot.
The day of the taping was here and we had to be at the studio early in the morning. They filmed five shows that day and luckily, Ti'Ler and I were in the first show. I surprisingly wasn't nervous because it felt like I was at home, sitting on my couch watching it. Meeting Pat and Vanna was a dream come true. We first saw Vanna without makeup and she was just as sweet as she can be. Pat constantly joked around during the show, just to make us feel comfortable. My favorite part of the whole thing was seeing my family and Ti'Ler's mother in the crowd smiling. We knew they were proud of us no matter if we won or lost. Being on Wheel of Fortune is something we will never forget. It was such an amazing experience and I would totally do it again.
