Meet Sheldon

In the early days of Wheel of Fortune, contestants shopped for prizes with their winnings. One of the most unique and memorable was the Ceramic Dalmatian, Sheldon.
Sheldon became very popular over time. In fact, contestants who shopped at the end of each round often "bought" Sheldon with their winnings before they "bought" the more expensive prizes!
"For $154, I'll take the Ceramic Dalmatian" became a popular catchphrase on Wheel of Fortune.
Sheldon was also well-liked by viewers. Many wrote to the show and asked how they could purchase him.
The staff named Sheldon in honor of the man who ran the kennel where Sheldon was born.
Sheldon, now retired, is the official mascot of Wheel of Fortune.
