Gina Tognoni joined the cast of Guiding Light on July 7, 2004 in the role of Dinah Marler. In 2006, Tognoni received her first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series and was nominated again for the award in 2007.

Tognoni is no stranger to daytime audiences, having previously portrayed Kelly Cramer on One Life to Live. Tognoni's other television credits include The Sopranos, Law & Order, This Time Around, Fastlane, and Phenomenon. In 2007, Tognoni and co-star Robert Bogue presented at the 33rd Annual People's Choice Awards.
