I moved to the Baltimore, MD when I was 6-years-old. I started watching the Wheel of Fortune around age 8. The normal routine would be: come home from school, eat dinner and meet my family in the living room to watch Wheel. My parents and I used to compete to see who could solve the puzzles first, the loser had to do the dishes. ;) The older I got, it seemed the better I played, plus I didn’t have to do dishes so much!
Everyone who’d witness me play the game would tell me “You should try to be a contestant”. I would smirk and say “I wish”. Until one day I heard Wheel was coming to Baltimore looking for contestants!! I was so happy! I encouraged my husband to come with me to try out. The building was filled with wanna-be-contestants, in fact the line was outside the door! I thought to myself “I have absolutely no chance” but I didn’t give up hope. I filled out a registration form and hoped for the best. Believe it or not, my name was called in the last round!! I ran to the stage, introduced myself and played a simulated game of wheel. I was told I would be contacted for another audition if the judges thought I had what it took to be a contestant. Four months later, I received an email from wheel asking me to attend a private audition! I couldn’t believe it. I attended the audition and put every bit of energy into it. I had a blast. The contestant team is so energetic and friendly, they made me feel right at home.
At the end of the audition I was told I’d receive a letter in 2 weeks if I was chosen to be a contestant. Those were the longest 2 weeks of my life! But finally, Valentine’s day 2013, I received the best gift of all….a letter welcoming me as a contestant on the show!! I jumped and screamed and told everyone I knew. I couldn’t believe that after all these years I would actually be on the show. Needless to say the excitement turned into dire anticipation. I could not wait until I received a show date! Months went by, still no word…then finally, YOU’VE GOT MAIL! I got an email from the team asking me to attend their Palazzo edition of wheel in LAS VEGAS! I literally booked my flight within the hour haha! I was going to finally be on the show in 2 weeks!
