This Week's Contestant

Having been a fan of Wheel of Fortune for many years, imagine my excitement when I received an email stating that the Wheel Mobile would be coming to West Palm Beach just up the road from me (I live in Delray Beach, FL)! My husband and I immediately made plans to attend the event. The audition process for this first contestant step is a long day, but the excitement filling the air makes the day very enjoyable. There are several rounds where you fill out a form for each game, hoping that your name is picked out of a large bin.
First round not picked, Second round not picked, and then on the third round I couldn't believe that I hear my name called! I screamed, waved my arms and ran up to the stage. They take your picture and then you're ushered on stage where you'll be playing a mock game. Before the game begins you are brought center stage with "Pat" to introduce yourself and tell the audience a little bit about you. As I'm talking to the "Pat" and the audience, I can't believe this is happening. After we play the mock game we return to the audience to cheer on the other contestants.
The next step is waiting to see if I receive an email inviting me to an in-person audition. As the weeks go by, I finally receive the email I've been waiting for! I'm invited to meet with the contestant department staff to see if I have what it takes to be a contestant on the show! The big day arrives so I head to the hotel and meet all the other contestant hopefuls. Once there, I am ushered into room with about 75 other people. We are asked to fill out an application, take a test and then try to solve puzzles when our name is called. You really have only a short period of time to make an impression on the contestant department team so you really have to make it count when your name is called. The team leaves the room and then comes back and announces they are going to be calling about 25 names of those they want to stay for further testing. Talk about nerve-wracking! You're sitting there please, oh please call my name! Thankfully my name is called and I'll get another opportunity to prove I've got what it takes to be on the show. We have our pictures taken and then play more games, including introducing ourselves. After everyone plays, the team announces that we are done for the day and if we've made it onto the show we'll be receiving a letter within 2-3 weeks.
Waiting and waiting and still no letter, so my husband and I head on vacation to our home town of Adams, MA for a family wedding. Well you can imagine the questions I got at the wedding everyone wanting to know if I've gotten the letter! Upon our arrival at home, luggage still in hand, I run to the mailbox and flip through the mail right in the middle of the driveway! As I'm flipping through all the mail, I see one word sticking out from the stack Sony! I screamed, knowing that I've gotten the letter and I'm going to be on Wheel of Fortune! My neighbors must have that I lost my mind! I just couldn't believe it! They picked me! Needless to say I was beyond excited and ran in the house to let my friends and family know.
Stay tuned Tuesday, April 9th to see how I did!
