This Week's Contestant
POSTED on Monday, March 4th, 2013
Anyone that knows me personally will tell you I've been watching Wheel of Fortune ever since I was a baby. I used to be so fascinated seeing the wheel spin, and I always dreamed of how cool it would be to actually spin it someday.
My fondest memory of Wheel was back in 1997 when they had a special April Fools' Day episode where Pat and Vanna were contestants and Alex Trebek was the host! I thought it was so clever to see Pat and Vanna experience what it's like to be a contestant on their own show. I was determined to be a contestant someday on the game show that I grew up with my entire life.
I remember applying to be a contestant to be on "Teen Week" when I was a teenager. It wasn't until this past year when I got a particular e-mail from Wheel of Fortune asking me to send in a "Face of the Fan" video describing myself, and why I would be a great contestant. A couple weeks later, I was invited to attend an audition in Cincinnati, Ohio (which is over 4 hours southwest from my hometown of Mentor, Ohio).
I went to the audition and I was greeted along with dozens and dozens of other potential contestants. I always thought I was a fantastic player. Quite frankly, so does everybody when they're watching in their family room or playing the video game. Once you're in the hot seat and everyone is watching you, it really tests your true skills! I gave it my all, and the day after Thanksgiving I received a letter congratulating me on becoming a future contestant for the show! Words cannot describe the feeling of getting that letter. I was already a winner. I did it. No matter what happened next, I knew I was going to have the time of my life.
Watch me spin on Wednesday, March 6th!
