This Week's Contestant
My love for The Wheel Of Fortune began long before I was a contestant on the show. My memory goes back to the days when after you solved a puzzle you picked your prize from a giant rotating table. Now I don't remember before there was Pat or Vanna...which is fine because it wasn't really Wheel until they came along.
So my journey began one summer day when I got an e-mail from a good friend of mine that happened to be my old FRO. I guess I should explain what a FRO is. You see I am a military wife and one of the ways we stay connected and informed about our Marines and military happenings is from our Family Readiness Officer's. (FRO.)
Anyways the e-mail said they were thinking about doing a show for the military spouse. NO WAY!!! This was a dream come true. Never in a million years would I think I would have an opportunity like this. So I called the number and left a message saying I would love to be on the show. After a few days I get a call saying they would like for me to come and try out for the show. I went to the tryouts a few weeks later thinking pretty positive. I made it to the second round of the try-outs which included testing and a few practice rounds in groups of three. They said we would know if we were selected for the show in approximately five weeks. They also said if you haven't heard anything in that five weeks then they probably didn't select you. Like I said before I had pretty high hopes after all I did make it to the second round of try-outs and I scored pretty well on the written test.
Days became weeks, weeks became months and there was no letter in my mailbox. Oh well, just the chance to try out was further than I ever thought this Kansas girl would ever get. And then it happened...the phone call that changed my life!!! It was Gary saying they needed a military spouse for the show and wanted to know if I would be interested. Would I be interested???? Are you kidding me...you tell me when and where and I am there.
It is now the night before the taping and I have tried on each and every outfit I brought with me at least twice. I kept getting the same response from my husband..."Dear, whatever you pick out will be just fine" Just fine!!! I'm about to meet Pat and Vanna I need more than just fine I needed to be "HD perfect" (those who watch the show regularly will know what I am talking about when I say HD perfect) It's a little after 11:00pm and I needed to get some sleep. Tomorrow was going to be a big day.
You'll have to tune in Wednesday, February 8th to see how I did.
